The Phantom Touch

The Queen Mary · 1126 Queens Hwy, Long Beach, CA 90802, USA

My friend and I were bored one evening and we decided to explore the Queen Mary. I don't know if they are still as lax about security, but back then you could pretty much go anywhere as long as the door was unlocked. Employees didn't seem to care much at all. We walked through the old pool area, which is supposed to be haunted. It had a spooky vibe, but we didn't experience anything unsual there. We explored all the decks and different ballrooms. We found a few rooms where they were just storing random things, like a small meeting room that was packed with matresses. Everything had an erie vibe, but that could have been because it was so empty on the ship that evening. The hotel was operating at that time and we saw guests checking in at the front desk, but we were still able to go through hotel halls for hours without coming across anyone. The halls in the hotel are pretty narrow. There was enough room for my friend and I to walk alongside each other. We were meandering along a hallway that runs the length of the ship, just engaging in small talk, when we walked through a threshold that opened onto an intersecting hallway. As soon as we passed under the threshold, my friend and I both grabbed at the sides of our necks. I turned to them and explained that I felt like I was just shocked on the side of my neck. They were rubbing the same part of their neck and said they felt the exact same thing. We silently walked around for a few minutes after while we kind of processed what we experienced. We started talking about how weird that was. My friend was pretty freaked out, but I talked them into turning around and going back to the spot. When we got to the spot we noticed a plaque on the wall right there that explained how that location was a hot spot for ghost sightings. I believe it said that guests would regularly see the ghost of a woman passing by.
